Kilim Obelsik Rug

The kilims are woven in Fowwa, a village located in the fertile Nile Delta. The artisans who create them belong to a long lineage of craftsmen who regard this craft as an essential part of their heritage. Decades ago, Fowwa was home to over 2,000 kilim weaving workshops; however, by 2016, fewer than 200 remained. With the craft nearing extinction within Egypt's cultural heritage, efforts were made to redesign its value chain, with the goal of bringing this traditional art into the 21st century and ensuring its sustainability for the future.

This wool rug is hand-woven on a cotton base. Since this rug is handcrafted, each one is unique, with slight variations and imperfections that add to its character.

It is recommended to have the carpet professionally cleaned or hand wash it in cold water using a non-bleach detergent. For stains, gently scrub with gel detergent and allow it to air dry. Avoid using bleach, stain removers, or a tumble dryer. These products are intended for indoor use and should not be exposed to direct sunlight.
