These large incense holders or serving trays feature simple designs inspired by the maker's surroundings in the beautiful Fayoum oasis, located west of Egypt's Nile River.

Founded in the 1980s in the rural village of Tunis, Egypt, the Fayoum pottery school established a formal training curriculum rooted in the locals unique use of mud and clay. Today, Fayoum ceramicists are known throughout Egypt and beyond for their distinctive work, and have helped transform the local economy with festivals, workshops, galleries, and more.
